Day 1

SAN JOSÉ

Arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport. Private transfer that will take you to the city of San José, our capital, where you will stay for 1 night. We suggest an easy evening relaxing, for you to be ready to start with your exciting program the next day.

Day 2

PUERTO VIEJO

Breakfasts included. Get ready to discover the exuberant area of the Costa Rican southern Caribbean between the rhythm of reggae and calypso.

This part of the country, Limon, truly represents the spirit of Costa Rica.

From the moment you cross the Zurquí tunnel on Route 32, it is as if you entered a different dimension. Its existence is completely covered in green. Everywhere you look there are leaves, small waterfalls, bridges formed by the treetops. Keep your eyes opened, you might be able to spot a blue Morpho butterfly or even toucans.

Puerto Viejo is authentic, unique, simply beautiful. This is an area rich in nature, culture and gastronomy which makes it a dream destination.

Sun, the traditional “rice & beans”, calypso music and a beautiful beach that seems straight out of a postcard, is what awaits you in this Caribbean jewel, Puerto Viejo provides the essential ingredients to experience the true Pura Vida!

The hotel is decorated with modern designs and elegant architecture, using clean lines and solid colors that are accented by more eccentric motifs. All accommodations are spacious and clean, and include comfortable beds, private bathrooms, and private terraces. Day 3

SELF EXPLORING THE CHARM

OF THE CARIBBEAN

On this day we suggest renting a bicycle, to go on a romantic ride, exploring the beautiful beaches of Punta Uva and Manzanillo. Maybe stopping for a delicious traditional lunch in one of the local Caribbean restaurants. The most popular dish is the Rice and Beans with Caribbean chicken or a Caribbean-style snapper, simply delicious and is a must try.

You could also book a local tour, to explore the spectacular Cahuita Park or perhaps visiting the Mirador Gandoca on your own.

Day 4

HEADING TO BOCAS DEL TORO

PANAMANIAN COAST

Since this trip involves crossing the border, we suggest traveling light, only with what is necessary for the next 2 days, leaving the rest of the luggage at the hotel. Please keep in mind, there might be some waiting time at the border.

Early morning, starting with a private transfer to the Sixaola border, (less than 2 hours away), where, after completing the immigration process, you will continue with a driver from Panama to Puerto Almirante where you will take a shared boat to Isla Colón in Panama. Colon is the main island of the Bocas del Toro archipelago.

The islands offer the visitor a great variety of attractions, uncommon in other regions of our continent, such as: luxurious tropical jungles, a great biodiversity of fauna and flora, cute sunny islands, beaches that compete with the best in the Caribbean, coral reefs in crystalline turquoise water, mangrove islets, etc. There is also a Marine National Park, that protects the ecosystem and natural resources that coexist within the limits of the Archipelago.

Another highlight are the Guaymí Indigenous villages. The Guaymi are the most numerous indigenous group in Panama. They are also known by the name Ngobe and are closely affiliated with a small group known as the Bugle. The Ngobe-Bugle (Guaymi) traditionally live in the western provinces of Bocas del Toro, Veraguas and Chiriqui.

Day 5

FREE DAY

TO ENJOY THE AREA

Attractions within this area include the Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park, Zapatilla Cays, Red Frog Beach, Playa la Estrella, among others that can be taken as a day tour from your hotel or explore on your own in a free-use kayak.

Day 6

Return to Puerto Viejo

Breakfast included.

Today you will travel by boat to Isla Colón, (the time will be previously arranged with your Panamanian carrier), to continue to Puerto Almirante. From there, back to the border, where after going through the immigration process you will hit the road towards Puerto Viejo for one night, (at the hotel you were previously staying). Enjoy the Caribbean once again, before heading to your next destination.

Day 7

FROM THE CARIBBEAN COAST TO THE NORTH ZONE: ARENAL

RAFTING PACUARE RIVER

We start the day with a rush of adrenaline! Prepare to get wet as you enjoy this exciting whitewater rafting tour at Pacuare River.

About the tour:

Pacuare River Expedition

Difficulty: Class III-IV

Distance: 30km/18 miles

Approximate time on the river: 4 hours

This is the main river in Costa Rica for rafting and is the fifth worldwide for this activity.

This river gives you a combination of a beautiful natural landscape combined with a huge adrenaline rush. The Pacuare River is one of the most beautiful rivers in the world. A river with green waters, waterfalls, surrounded by many colors and tropical birds that fly over your head. Wildlife is exuberant with sloths, toucans, parrots, coatis, butterflies, and a variety of colorful frogs. The Pacuare River has the most exciting rapids in the country, which makes this tour truly remarkable.

During the descent we will make a very essential stop for a buffet-style lunch. The tour finishes at the Exploration Center which is totally private and where you can take a nice shower. Afterwards, relax for a little bit while enjoying a cold refreshing drink, and taking a look at the photos of the amazing experience you just had. In the mean time we will take care of the details to continue with a shared transfer back to your hotel in the Arenal region.

Comfortable shoes, the kind that stay put on so you don’t lose them along the way, bathing suit, shorts, nylon t-shirts, bottle of water, sunscreen, change of clothes, small cloth, credit or debit card if you wish to buy photos, t-shirts or drinks at the end (no cash accepted). Day 8

ARENAL

HIKE ARENAL VOLCANO

RIO FORTUNA WATERFALL

AND HANGING BRIDGES

Breakfast included. Today starts with a hike to the Arenal Volcano and incredible hanging bridges. After this tour, you will visit the beautiful Rio Fortuna Waterfall.

About the tour:

Hike Arenal Volcano.

Arenal Volcano is more than the volcano itself, healing hot springs, lots of adventure and nature activities to do, great food and friendly people. Its almost perfect cone, rising 1,633m above sea level, has a 140m-deep crater formed over an ancient caldera. It dates back to 2-3 million years ago.

On July 29, 1968, it ceased to be dormant and began a new stage of eruptions that lasted until 2010.

Hanging Bridges

This incredible project is located in a wonderful rainforest reserve with 250 hectares of protected land. You can enter the natural paradise along a three-kilometer walking trail that passes through 15 bridges, six of them are suspension bridges with a spectacular design as a safe and fun adventure to see the forest from the ground (like a jaguar), from the middle, (like a monkey) or from the treetops (like an eagle).

Imagine exploring the forest from one of our hanging bridges which is more than 60 meters high. As you walk along The Tyra Bridge, 98 meters long, you could find more than 250 species of birds, including: the white hawk, curassow, Rufous-tailed Jacamar, Black-throated Trogon and many others. Once at the Pilon Bridge, get your camara ready! This spot offers you an amazing view of the Arenal Volcano lava flow.

Río Fortuna Waterfall Hike

We invite you to enjoy a quiet adventure through the tropical rain forest in the surroundings of the beautiful Río Fortuna waterfall. We will walk for approximately one hour until we reach the entrance of the waterfall. Our next challenge will be to go down to the amazing waterfall of more than 60 meters high, where we can take a refreshing dip and enjoy the flora and fauna of the place.

Day 9

DAY FREE IN ARENAL

Breakfast included.

Free day to enjoy the facilities of your hotel, relax in one of the hot springs in the area or take an optional tour.

Day 10

DAYS OF RELAXATION IN THE PACIFIC

Breakfast is included at the hotel. Later today, it would be time to travel from the beautiful northern area and its charming hot springs to the gorgeous central Pacific zone, where you will stay at the Tangomar hotel, tiki room, overlooking the ocean.

Day 11

FREE DAY IN TAMBOR

Breakfast included.

Free day to enjoy the facilities of this beautiful hotel or to take an optional tour to nearby beaches such as Santa Teresa or Montezuma.

This beach area is famous for two things: gorgeous orange sunsets and, of course, great surfing!

The beach is surrounded by jungle, and offers is visitors a multicultural vibe that is very present in the gastronomic scene.

Day 12

TAMBOR

TORTUGA ISLAND TOUR

The day starts with an exciting tour to Tortuga Island in the middle of the Costa Rican Central Pacific.

Visit a white sand beach and explore a magnificent coral reef.

We will leave Tambor beach towards the island in a trip of about 20 minutes where you will see cliffs and rock formations that will provide you with an unforgettable experience.

Minutes later, when you resume the trip, you will go snorkeling in a reef near the Island. There you will be able to come into contact with the incredible underwater world, inhabited by hundreds of multicolored fish and strange corals.

Once on the island you can enjoy a relaxing environment to tan, take a dip or simply rest under the almond and coconut trees.

Humpback whales, dolphins and sea turtles can be seen on occasion during this trip.

Don’t forget to bring your underwater camera, sunglasses, sunscreen and some money for personal expenses.

Day 13

ALAJUELA

Breakfast included.

This day we will offer a private transfer in the afternoon to the Alajuela area, where you will stay the last night before returning to your country.

Please notice we could offer you instead a domestic flight.

Leaving Costa Rica

Unfortunately, is time to say good bye.

Breakfast is included in the hotel.

Private transfer to the international airport according to your flight schedule.
