The quetzal comes from the Trogoniade family, and was considered sacred in some indigenous cultures. The Quetzales have a peaceful and quiet home in the area and reside in San Gerardo all year round. The weather and the good amount of food (Aguacatillo Tree) provide a great habitat for these birds.

Our guide will lead the tour to try to find one/several Quetzal(s) for you. With its metallic green plumage, crimson chest, and incredible streamer-like feathers, watching a Quetzal in its magical flight is an incredible experience that will simply take your breath away.
